Let’s tell you some more about our Baby & Toddler room ~

 

In this lovely setting, babies from 3 months old to toddlers around 2.5 years old (the upper age limit is flexible and is defined by each child’s individual needs and abilities) enjoy a safe and interesting environment where they develop curiosity, co-ordination and enhance their physical abilities.  Our Baby & Toddler room encourages every individual to grow and develop at their own pace.

The inviting room provides so many activities, toys and equipment, all which promote a holistic approach to learning and development.

  • A wide variety of experiences, which involve all the senses, encouraging learning and on-going interest in their environment.

  • The carpet is made of a special anti-allergy material and the flooring is under heated to offer extra warmth and comfort as they become more mobile.
  • This room includes a sterile milk kitchen, nappy changing room and calming sleep area.

  • Regular but flexible routines help our babies and toddlers to gain a sense of order and anticipate events.

  • Healthy, balanced meals, all cooked onsite and approved by the British Nutritional Foundation

Staff:
Our experienced and kind staff offer sensitive care to meet every child’s individual needs. Relationships are formed to encourage a sense of well being and comfort. We work to help your child experience a secure ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere.

Babies:
Colourful pictures, mobiles, soft toys and furnishings adorn the room and make it the perfect environment for babies to safely start to crawl and explore their surroundings. During this period babies begin to develop an awareness and understanding of themselves and the environment around them. As children become more mobile new opportunities for exploration and exercise arise.

Toddlers:
As younger toddlers become more independent – feeding themselves, drinking from larger cups, playing with their friends and taking on a whole new approach to the ways in which they learn, develop and communicate – this area is fully equipped to support and encourage fun in learning and children are monitored to ensure the educational planning revolves around their individual needs and natural interests. As the children start to make the transition to a new level of independence, their development and learning is always fully supported.

  • A light and colourful environment with child height furnishings and floor mats to encourage movement, crawling and eventually walking!

  • Age and stage-appropriate equipment and resources, child-height furniture, sinks and role play equipment.
  • An art area offers babies and toddlers the creative space to develop their co-ordination skills, take part in messy play, finger-paint, mark making and build models to bring home for you.

  • Singing & music play a large part in encouraging our toddlers to become more confident and communicative.

  • Role-play and dressing-up games cultivates the children’s friendships and encourages their self-expression.

  • Picture books and story time. Looking and listening are important first steps in literacy.

  • A tranquil area for quiet time.
  • A visit to ‘Home Corner’ promotes important life skills as they practice the art of role-play.

Encourage:
Self-help and independence soon emerge as we support and encourage children with eating, dressing and toileting.

Interact:
Joining-in with conversations is an important way for babies and toddlers to learn to think about new things and to enjoy contributing to the communication.

Explore:
At their own pace, your child will explore and develop, offering them both independence and the security of adults when needed.
