Early Years Foundation

“Play is essential for children’s development. Children learn through play which helps them to grow in confidence, making decisions and understanding and overcoming problems.”
The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum.
At The Vineyard Organic Day Nursery we provide a balance of child and adult initiated purposeful activities taking into account each child’s interests and development stages.
Early Years Foundation Stage framework is there to ensure that all children are given the opportunity to learn and develop through high quality play experiences, allowing them to be inquisitive, imaginative and experimental, empowering them to lead their own play and learning.
The EYFS is separated into 7 key areas, 3 prime and 4 specific.
Physical Development
We encourage young children to be active and interactive; helping to develop their co-ordination, control, and movement. We teach children to understand the importance of physical activity, and to make healthy food choices.
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
The Vineyard Organic Day Nursery ensures that children feel secure, valued and eager to learn, whilst developing respect for others and an understanding of appropriate behaviour.
Communication & Language
Children learn to be good communicators and staff lay down early skills for them to become confident writers, thinkers and readers.
Mathematics
We encourage children learn to use maths in a practical way; they work things out by using shapes, counting and measuring.
Understanding the World
Staff at The Vineyard Organic Day Nursery help children to make sense of the world by investigating, exploring and pretend play.
Literacy
Children are encouraged to link sounds and letters, and to begin to read and write. The Nursery offers children access to an extensive range of reading materials to foster interest in the written word/books from a young age.
Expressive Art & Design
We encourage children to explore their imagination in art and design, using a broad range of media, materials and skills.
